Mingalaba from Myanmar!
We have just started doing surgeries at Htee Saung Hospital in Sagaing Region, Myanmar!
Htee Saung Hospital is a hospital run by Myanmarese monks. This hospital provides medical care and surgery for ophthalmology patients. I wanted to do surgeries at the request of patients and through my connection at Japan heart, we were able to start our surgical program in less that one year. You can see the report of our activities in November through this link:
(Japanese) https://www.japanheart.org/reports/reports-myanmar/191125-2.html
During the 2 days that we performed surgeries, we completed 32 operations. All fees for these treatments are completely free for all patients.
These activities are carried out not only by Japan Heart staff but also by the medical staff of Htee Saung Hospital. Although their experience with surgery was limited, everyone worked hard to share their knowledge, assist patients and perform postoperative procedures. Besides delivering medical care to patients, we want to promote the transfer of medical expertise by working with local staff.
We will continue to conduct outpatient treatment and surgical activities at Htee Saung Hospital in the future and we will work hard to reach more people!
